  I Don't Sympathise With Suicides

  let me explain.. firstly i have seen any number of so-called attempted suicides.

  i've walked past an old girl friends house, seen her watching tv through the window, by the time i'm knocking on the door she's told me that she had her head in the gas oven and my knock stopped her.. my mother in law walks into the sea for a pastime.

  every time she can't get her own way she walks in up to her knees and waits for someone to see her.

  I agree that many claim they are going to kill themselves for attention. And don't realize the hurt they inflict on others with this tactic.(I have been hurt by this)
  Some though may suffer severe depression and it may be their call for help, hopefully they will get it.

  I feel that if a person is of sound mind, he should have the right to terminate his life if that be his desire, and should be respected as a free moral agent who can make that choice.

  I would find it very hard to assist anyone contemplating suicide if they were of good health, but if they had some terrible illness and would suffer greatly, and there was no hope of ever getting better, I might if my love for them was strong enough, offer my assistance even if it would mean legal problems for me.

  can a person get salavtion if he never reads the bible?.

  can person just except christ but have nothing to do with the bible and get salvation?.

  I don't think you understand what I'm saying.
  I feel it is important to read the Bible, but for salvation the only thing nessasary is Faith in Jesus and his ressurection.
  Nowhere in the Bible does it say reading the Bible is nessasarry for salvation just faith.

  I also beleive that a person can have many wrong Ideas about God and his Son and still get salvation.
  Salvation, is not how many answers you get right, but faith in the Son.

  You are have a bad day. We all have bad days and I think 90% of people have days like the one you're having.

  I think from my research and just plain trying to figure things out, that there is a good reason why we are all here.
  I think that God is alot more merciful than we think he is, just look around at this world in which we live and try to see the good.
  It's there you just need to take time to look.

  That's WT indoctrination, that is causing alot of your depression, at least that's what it sounds like to me.
  WT and God are 2 different things. It takes time to get rid of WT guilt, but you can do it others have and youi can do it too.

  I think a person that excepts Jesus Christ will get salvation and reading the bible is not nessasarry.

  I think reading the Bible is important, but not nessasarry for salvation.

  Jonestown and Watchtower Society--Similarities

  recently in another thread, dannybear mentioned jim jones and the mass suicides at jonestown.

  about two years ago when the issue of cults in france was a hot topic in ex-jw discussions, i became curious about jim jones and his followers.

  i had seen the news reports and horrific footage, but i wanted to understand how a man could convince 638 of his adult followers to kill themselves and 276 children.. for me, jim jones's story is also close to home.

  Thank for the info.
  You know what is a real shame? It is when persons come out of a cult, and recognize it was a cult, but jump in to another cult?.

  I think one thing that stands out in my mind after leaving the WT cult is this:
  Don't let others pressure you into thinking their way, draw your own conclusions, Take No Shit from opinionated or pushy people.

  My wife gets really pissed at me when I deal with pushy salesman, because I do a good job of making them look like assholes, and take them to task for lying statements they make. I can't help myself, because I feel very strongly about people that manipulate others with Bull-Shit.

  I'm free and wish to remain always.

  How Long A JW ( Baptised )?

  i frequently read on this board that somebody has 'been a jw for over 25 years' and then learn that they are in fact 25 years and three days old.. i am very easily confused, in fact i actually got inside a car of similar color to my own recently and spent at least five minutes with a furrowed brow trying to force my car key into its ignition, fortunately, i realised my error before i was arrested.

  so, just to humor me, can you all post how long you were/are baptised jw's?.
